Our analysis looked at 4,626 schools in the United States to see which programs were the most popular for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our analysis found Ivy Tech Community College to be the most popular school for trade school students in the United States. Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, the large public school handed out 31,118 degrees in 2021-2022.
On average, students take out $11,090 in loans while pursuing their degree. During the early years of their career, Ivy Tech Community College graduates make an average of $35,780 annually. Around 61% of those degree recipients were women.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means National University College is a great place for trade school students. National University College is a private for-profit institution located in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. The school has a large population, and it awarded 9,792 degrees in 2021-2022.
By the time they get their degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $14,725 in student loans. If you borrow this amount, expect your monthly student loan payment to be around $42, assuming you are on a 10-year repayment plan.After graduating from National University College, students go on to jobs where they make an average of $18,994 during the early years of their career. Around 62% of those degree recipients were women.
The programs at Ultimate Medical Academy - Clearwater helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular trade school schools in the United States. This medium-sized private not-for-profit school is located in Clearwater, Florida, and it awarded 7,575 degrees in 2021-2022.
On average, students take out $13,507 in loans while pursuing their degree. Once they receive their degree, UMA Clearwater graduates enter the workforce, making an average salary of $21,883 during the early year of their career. Around 97% of those degree recipients were women.
Out of the 4,626 schools in the United States that were part of this year’s ranking, Bluegrass Community and Technical College landed the # 4 spot on the list. Bluegrass Community and Technical College is located in Lexington, Kentucky and has a fairly large student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 5,011 degrees to qualified students.
Degree recipients from Bluegrass Community and Technical College accumulate an average of $14,138 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Central Georgia Technical College ranked #9 on this year’s Most Popular Trade Schools list. This medium-sized public school is located in Warner Robins, Georgia, and it awarded 4,744 degrees in 2021-2022.
By the time they get their degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $9,228 in student loans. During the early years of their career, CGTC graduates make an average of $28,707 annually. Of those students who received their degree, 60% were women.
Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts - Boulder did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students. It came in at #10 on the list. Boulder, Colorado is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out degrees to 3,638 students in 2021-2022.

Those who take out this much in loans have to make a monthly payment of about $156 if they are on a 10-year repayment plan. Once they receive their degree, Escoffier - Boulder graduates enter the workforce, making an average salary of $26,698 during the early year of their career. DeVry University - Illinois ranked #11 on this year’s Most Popular Trade Schools list. DeVry University - Illinois is a large private for-profit school located in Naperville, Illinois that handed out 9,399 degrees in 2021-2022.
Degree recipients from DeVry University - Illinois accumulate an average of $39,266 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Those who take out this much in loans have to make a monthly payment of about $138 if they are on a 10-year repayment plan. Fox Valley Technical College came in at #13 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Trade Schools ranking. Fox Valley Technical College is a fairly large public school located in Appleton, Wisconsin that handed out 3,648 degrees in 2021-2022.

ECPI University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students. It came in at #14 on the list. Mountainland Technical College landed the #18 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular trade school programs. Mountainland Technical College is located in Lehi, Utah and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 2,277 degrees to qualified students.
