There are so many trade school programs in today's world that it can tough to figure out which one is the right one for you. You can choose a traditional brick and mortar school, or with the growth of online education, you can attend a school half-way across the country without even leaving your house.
To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Trade College Search has created its Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. This report analyzed 76 schools in the New England Region to see which ones were the most popular associate degree programs for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named New England Institute of Technology the most popular school in the New England Region for trade school students working on their associate degree. New England Tech is located in East Greenwich, Rhode Island and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 537 associate degrees to qualified students.
If you want to attend New England Tech, expect to pay an average of $33,900 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $17,029 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 43% were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at New England Tech. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 38% took at least some of their classes online.
You’ll be in good company if you attend Johnson & Wales University - Providence. The school came in at #2 on this year’s Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Providence, Rhode Island, and it awarded 377 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average tuition and fees at JWU Providence is $38,096. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid. On average, associate degree students take out $16,236 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 70% were women.
One thing to take note of is that JWU Providence does offer online classes in some areas. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 24% took at least some of their classes online.
You’ll be in good company if you attend Springfield Technical Community College. The school came in at #3 on this year’s Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. This small public school is located in Springfield, Massachusetts, and it awarded 719 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Massachusetts pay an average of $5,520 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend STCC. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $10,728. Associate Degree recipients from STCC accumulate an average of $7,676 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 60% of those degree recipients were women.
STCC does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. In fact, around 91% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
A rank of #4 on this year’s list means North Shore Community College is a great place for trade school students working on their associate degree. North Shore Community College is located in Danvers, Massachusetts and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 734 associate degrees to qualified students.
In-state students pay an average of $5,352 in tuition and fees if they attend North Shore Community College full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $10,920. Associate Degree recipients from North Shore Community College accumulate an average of $12,225 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 65% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that North Shore Community College does offer online classes in some areas. In fact, around 86% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
A rank of #5 on this year’s list means Southern Maine Community College is a great place for trade school students working on their associate degree. SMCC is a public institution located in South Portland, Maine. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 721 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at SMCC is $3,797. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $6,677. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $12,655 in student loans. Around 55% of those degree recipients were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online classes at SMCC. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 71% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
NHTI-Concord’s Community College ranked #6 on this year’s Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Located in Concord, New Hampshire, the small public school awarded 519 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2021-2022.
Students from New Hampshire who attend NHTI full time pay an average of $7,200 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $15,450. Associate Degree recipients from NHTI accumulate an average of $16,658 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 66% of those degree recipients were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since NHTI does offer online classes for certain majors. During the 2020-2021 year, about 54% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Southern New Hampshire University ranked #7 on this year’s Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Located in Manchester, New Hampshire, the large private not-for-profit school handed out 3,321 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
The average tuition and fees at SNHU is $15,380. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid. Associate Degree recipients from SNHU accumulate an average of $17,725 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 60% were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online classes at SNHU. In fact, around 96% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
Community College of Rhode Island did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an associate degree. It came in at #8 on the list. Warwick, Rhode Island is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associate degrees to 1,926 students in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at CCRI is $5,090. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $13,552. On average, associate degree students take out $13,250 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 63% were women.
Online courses are available at CCRI, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. In 2020-2021 about 63% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Kennebec Valley Community College came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Kennebec Valley Community College is a small public school situated in Fairfield, Maine. It awarded 238 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Students from Maine who attend Kennebec Valley Community College full time pay an average of $3,687 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students pay an average of $6,567. Eastern Maine Community College landed the #16 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. This small public school is located in Bangor, Maine, and it awarded 281 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Maine pay an average of $3,877 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Eastern Maine Community College. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $6,757. With a ranking of #18, Goodwin College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. Goodwin is a small private not-for-profit school situated in East Hartford, Connecticut. It awarded 504 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $21,188 to cover tuition and fees at Goodwin. The school does not offer an in-state discount. Northern Essex Community College ranked #19 on this year’s Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. This small public school is located in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and it awarded 470 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $5,688 in tuition and fees if they attend NECC full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $11,472. Manchester Community College landed the #20 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. MCC is located in Manchester, New Hampshire and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 333 associate degrees to qualified students.

With a ranking of #22, Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. Boston, Massachusetts is the setting for this very small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out associate degrees to 65 students in 2021-2022.

Roxbury Community College ranked #24 on this year’s Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Roxbury Community College is a small public school situated in Roxbury Crossing, Massachusetts. It awarded 133 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
