To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named Southern Maine Community College the most popular school in Maine for trade school students working on their associate degree. SMCC is a public institution located in South Portland, Maine. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 721 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $3,797 in tuition and fees if they attend SMCC full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $6,677. On average, associate degree students take out $12,655 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 55% were women.
SMCC does offer online classes for certain degree levels. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 71% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
Out of the 15 schools in Maine that were part of this year’s ranking, Kennebec Valley Community College landed the # 2 spot on the list. Kennebec Valley Community College is a small public school located in Fairfield, Maine that handed out 238 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Students from Maine who attend Kennebec Valley Community College full time pay an average of $3,687 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students pay an average of $6,567. On average, associate degree students take out $15,786 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 71% were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online classes at Kennebec Valley Community College. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 52% took at least some of their classes online.
A rank of #3 on this year’s list means Eastern Maine Community College is a great place for trade school students working on their associate degree. Eastern Maine Community College is located in Bangor, Maine and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 281 associate degrees to qualified students.
Full-time students from Maine pay an average of $3,877 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Eastern Maine Community College. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $6,757. Central Maine Technical College is a public institution located in Auburn, Maine. The school has a small population, and it awarded 316 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Central Maine Technical College is $3,760. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $6,640. Beal College came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in Maine ranking. Bangor, Maine is the setting for this very small institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out associate degrees to 120 students in 2021-2022.

The average in-state tuition and fees for students at UMA is $8,378. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $19,778. Associate Degree recipients from UMA accumulate an average of $19,960 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 76% of those degree recipients were women.

With a ranking of #9, Maine College of Health Professions did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. MCHP is located in Lewiston, Maine and has a very small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 66 associate degrees to qualified students.
The average tuition and fees at MCHP is $16,238. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid. Associate Degree recipients from MCHP accumulate an average of $14,354 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 92% were women.

Washington County Community College came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in Maine ranking. Washington County Community College is a very small public school located in Calais, Maine that handed out 31 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $3,687 in tuition and fees if they attend Washington County Community College full time. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $6,567. Around 65% of those degree recipients were women.

If you want to attend The Landing School, expect to pay an average of $26,012 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid.
University of Maine at Presque Isle ranked #12 on this year’s Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in Maine list. University of Maine at Presque Isle is a small public school located in Presque Isle, Maine that handed out 28 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at UMPI is $8,750. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $13,520. Around 54% of those degree recipients were women.

With a ranking of #13, Maine Maritime Academy did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. Castine, Maine is the setting for this very small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associate degrees to 2 students in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $14,562 in tuition and fees if they attend Maine Maritime full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $30,043.
Some students may be able to take online classes at Maine Maritime. In 2020-2021 about 17% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Saint Joseph’s College of Maine came in at #14 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in Maine ranking. Located in Standish, Maine, the small private not-for-profit school handed out 3 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
Around 100% of those degree recipients were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online classes at Saint Joseph’s Maine. In 2020-2021 about 31% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
University of Maine at Fort Kent landed the #15 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. UMFK is a small public school situated in Fort Kent, Maine. It awarded 10 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at UMFK is $8,542. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $13,312. Of those students who received their degree, 20% were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at UMFK. During the 2020-2021 year, about 63% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
