You can choose a traditional brick and mortar school, or with the growth of online education, you can attend a school half-way across the country without even leaving your house.
To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Trade College Search has created its Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. This report analyzed 76 schools in the New England Region to see which ones were the most popular associate degree programs for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named New England Institute of Technology the most popular school in the New England Region for trade school students working on their associate degree. East Greenwich, Rhode Island is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out associate degrees to 537 students in 2021-2022.
If you want to attend New England Tech, expect to pay an average of $33,900 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid. On average, associate degree students take out $17,029 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 43% of those degree recipients were women.
New England Tech does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. In 2020-2021 about 38% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Johnson & Wales University - Providence is a great place for trade school students working on their associate degree. JWU Providence is located in Providence, Rhode Island and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 377 associate degrees to qualified students.
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $38,096 to cover tuition and fees at JWU Providence. The school does not offer an in-state discount. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $16,236 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 70% were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online classes at JWU Providence. In 2020-2021 about 24% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Out of the 76 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Springfield Technical Community College landed the # 3 spot on the list. This small public school is located in Springfield, Massachusetts, and it awarded 719 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Massachusetts pay an average of $5,520 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend STCC. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $10,728. On average, associate degree students take out $7,676 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 60% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that STCC does offer online classes in some areas. During the 2020-2021 year, about 91% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend North Shore Community College. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. This small public school is located in Danvers, Massachusetts, and it awarded 734 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at North Shore Community College is $5,352. Out-of-state students pay an average of $10,920. On average, associate degree students take out $12,225 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 65% were women.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Southern Maine Community College. It ranked #5 on our 2023 Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Southern Maine Community College is a medium-sized public school located in South Portland, Maine that handed out 721 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at SMCC is $3,797. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $6,677. With a ranking of #6, NHTI-Concord’s Community College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. This small public school is located in Concord, New Hampshire, and it awarded 519 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at NHTI is $7,200. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $15,450. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $16,658 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 66% were women.

Southern New Hampshire University landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. SNHU is a private not-for-profit institution located in Manchester, New Hampshire. The school has a large population, and it awarded 3,321 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average tuition and fees at SNHU is $15,380. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid. Associate Degree recipients from SNHU accumulate an average of $17,725 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 60% of those degree recipients were women.

Community College of Rhode Island came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Community College of Rhode Island is a fairly large public school located in Warwick, Rhode Island that handed out 1,926 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Students from Rhode Island who attend CCRI full time pay an average of $5,090 in tuition and fees. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $13,552. Associate Degree recipients from CCRI accumulate an average of $13,250 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 63% were women.
