This report analyzed 38 schools in the Middle Atlantic Region to see which ones had the most popular online associate degree programs for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from schools with online programs.

Our analysis found Excelsior University to be the most popular school for trade school students who want to pursue a associate degree in the Middle Atlantic Region . Excelsior University is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in Albany, New York that handed out 1,240 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $12,110 in student loans. Around 60% of those degree recipients were women.
Since Excelsior University is primarily an online school, it is an excellent choice for undergraduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Bryant & Stratton College - Online. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. This medium-sized private not-for-profit school is located in Orchard Park, New York, and it awarded 902 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Bryant & Stratton College - Online does not offer a discount to in-state students, so the average tuition and fees for all undergraduates is $15,295. On average, associate degree students take out $15,208 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 33% of those degree recipients were women.

Out of the 38 schools in the Middle Atlantic Region that were part of this year’s ranking, SUNY Broome landed the # 5 spot on the list. SUNY Broome is a medium-sized public school located in Binghamton, New York that handed out 680 associate degrees in 2021-2022.

Union County College landed the #8 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. Located in Cranford, New Jersey, the medium-sized public school awarded 1,519 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2021-2022.
On average, associate degree students take out $11,937 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 65% were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 73% took at least some of their classes online.
Montgomery County Community College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an associate degree. It came in at #9 on the list. Montco is a medium-sized public school situated in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. It awarded 1,253 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Pennsylvania pay an average of $10,650 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Montco. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $15,390. Associate Degree recipients from Montco accumulate an average of $13,849 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 63% were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 75% took at least some of their classes online.
With a ranking of #10, Harrisburg Area Community College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. Located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the fairly large public school handed out 1,788 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Pennsylvania pay an average of $8,565 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend HACC. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $10,148. Associate Degree recipients from HACC accumulate an average of $19,208 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 68% were women.

In-state students pay an average of $5,252 in tuition and fees if they attend KCC full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $8,132. Raritan Valley Community College ranked #22 on this year’s Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. This medium-sized public school is located in Branchburg, New Jersey, and it awarded 1,068 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average tuition and fees at RVCC is $7,296. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid. On average, associate degree students take out $11,194 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 56% of those degree recipients were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 32% took at least some of their classes online.
YTI Career Institute-York did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an associate degree. It came in at #23 on the list. YTI is a private for-profit institution located in York, Pennsylvania. The school has a very small population, and it awarded 132 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
On average, associate degree students take out $16,892 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 65% were women.
In 2020-2021 about 89% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
College of Southern Maryland landed the #24 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. College of Southern Maryland is a small public school located in La Plata, Maryland that handed out 910 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Students from Maryland who attend CSM full time pay an average of $7,200 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $9,240. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $11,500 in student loans. Around 63% of those degree recipients were women.

Mohawk Valley Community College landed the #25 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. Located in Utica, New York, the medium-sized public school handed out 657 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $5,776 in tuition and fees if they attend MVCC full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $8,211. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $12,709 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 58% were women.
During the 2020-2021 year, about 50% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
