When it comes to higher education, there are a lot of options for trade school students. You can choose a traditional brick and mortar school, or with the growth of online education, you can attend a school half-way across the country without even leaving your house.
To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Trade College Search has created its Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. This report analyzed 409 schools in the Southwest Region to see which ones were the most popular undergraduate certificate programs for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our analysis found San Jacinto Community College to be the most popular school for trade school students who want to pursue a undergraduate certificate in the Southwest Region . This large public school is located in Pasadena, Texas, and it awarded 1,885 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $9,340 in student loans. Around 50% of those degree recipients were women.
San Jacinto College does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 66% took at least some of their classes online.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Texas State Technical College is a great place for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. TSTC is a fairly large public school situated in Waco, Texas. It awarded 896 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
Undergraduate Certificate recipients from TSTC accumulate an average of $10,227 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 10% were women.
One thing to take note of is that TSTC does offer online classes in some areas. In 2020-2021 about 94% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Out of the 409 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Indian Capital Technology Center, Muskogee landed the # 3 spot on the list. This small public school is located in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and it awarded 1,159 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
Around 40% of those degree recipients were women.
Out of the 409 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, The College of Health Care Professions - Northwest landed the # 4 spot on the list. CHCP - Northwest is located in Houston, Texas and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 989 undergraduate certificates to qualified students.
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $8,745 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 95% of those degree recipients were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at CHCP - Northwest. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 73% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.

Tulsa Tech is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 1,209 undergraduate certificates to qualified students.

Lincoln College of Technology - Grand Prairie landed the #6 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular undergraduate certificate trade school programs. Lincoln Tech - Grand Prairie is a small private for-profit school situated in Grand Prairie, Texas. It awarded 695 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $11,556 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 8% of those degree recipients were women.

Universal Technical Institute - Houston did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an undergraduate certificate. It came in at #7 on the list. This small private for-profit school is located in Houston, Texas, and it awarded 404 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
Undergraduate Certificate recipients from UTI Houston accumulate an average of $15,643 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 7% were women.
United Education Institute - UEI College - Phoenix came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, the small private for-profit school handed out 739 undergraduate certificate awards in 2021-2022.
Undergraduate Certificate recipients from UEI College - Phoenix accumulate an average of $8,825 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 82% were women.

Lone Star College System did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an undergraduate certificate. It came in at #9 on the list. Located in The Woodlands, Texas, the large public school awarded 1,029 diplomas to qualifed undergraduate certificate students in 2021-2022.
By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $8,493 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 53% were women.
One thing to take note of is that North Harris Montgomery does offer online classes in some areas. In 2020-2021 about 67% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
With a ranking of #10, Florida Career College - Houston Campus did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. Houston, Texas is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out undergraduate certificates to 614 students in 2021-2022.
Undergraduate Certificate recipients from Florida Career College - Houston Campus accumulate an average of $9,249 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 77% of those degree recipients were women.
With a ranking of #11, Universal Technical Institute - Phoenix did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. Universal Technical Institute - Phoenix is a very small private for-profit school located in Avondale, Arizona that handed out 457 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $14,543 in student loans. Around 6% of those degree recipients were women.
Northeast Technology Center-System Office landed the #12 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular undergraduate certificate trade school programs. Galen College of Nursing - San Antonio landed the #14 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular undergraduate certificate trade school programs. Located in San Antonio, Texas, the small private for-profit school awarded 407 diplomas to qualifed undergraduate certificate students in 2021-2022.
By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $14,483 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 85% were women.
If you are interested in distance education, Galen College of Nursing - San Antonio is an excellent choice, since the school is online.
With a ranking of #15, Sonoran Desert Institute did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. Located in Tempe, Arizona, the small private for-profit school handed out 544 undergraduate certificate awards in 2021-2022.
The average tuition and fees at Sonoran Desert Institute is $11,960. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid. By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $8,149 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 2% were women.
Since Sonoran Desert Institute is primarily an online school, it is an excellent choice for undergraduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.
El Paso Community College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an undergraduate certificate. It came in at #16 on the list. El Paso, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out undergraduate certificates to 412 students in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Texas pay an average of $3,274 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend El Paso Community College. Out-of-state students pay an average of $5,314. Around 56% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that El Paso Community College does offer online classes in some areas. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 59% took at least some of their classes online.
The College of Health Care Professions - Southwest Houston did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an undergraduate certificate. It came in at #17 on the list. The College of Health Care Professions - Southwest Houston is a very small private for-profit school located in Houston, Texas that handed out 385 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $8,745 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 93% of those degree recipients were women.
Online courses are available at CHCP - Southwest Houston, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. In 2020-2021 about 4% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.

With a ranking of #18, Canadian Valley Technology Center did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. Located in El Reno, Oklahoma, the small public school awarded 566 diplomas to qualifed undergraduate certificate students in 2021-2022.

Houston Community College came in at #19 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Houston, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out undergraduate certificates to 480 students in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Texas pay an average of $4,344 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Houston Community College. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $5,460. By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $13,835 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 64% were women.

With a ranking of #20, South Texas Vocational Technical Institute-San Antonio did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. South Texas Vo-Tech is located in San Antonio, Texas and has a very small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 415 undergraduate certificates to qualified students.
By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $12,106 in student loans. Around 7% of those degree recipients were women.

With a ranking of #23, The College of Health Care Professions - Fort Worth did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. The College of Health Care Professions - Fort Worth is a very small private for-profit school located in Fort Worth, Texas that handed out 433 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
Undergraduate Certificate recipients from CHCP - Fort Worth accumulate an average of $8,745 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 93% of those degree recipients were women.

North Central Texas College ranked #24 on this year’s Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region list. Located in Gainesville, Texas, the medium-sized public school awarded 498 diplomas to qualifed undergraduate certificate students in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at NCTC is $4,680. Out-of-state students pay an average of $7,200. Undergraduate Certificate recipients from NCTC accumulate an average of $9,660 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 32% were women.
NCTC does offer online classes for certain degree levels. During the 2020-2021 year, about 67% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
With a ranking of #25, Kiamichi Technology Center-McAlester did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. Located in McAlester, Oklahoma, the very small public school handed out 691 undergraduate certificate awards in 2021-2022.
Around 48% of those degree recipients were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online classes at KTC McAlester. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 1% took at least some of their classes online.
