When it comes to higher education, there are a lot of options for trade school students. You can choose a traditional brick and mortar school, or with the growth of online education, you can attend a school half-way across the country without even leaving your house.
To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Trade College Search has created its Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. This report analyzed 409 schools in the Southwest Region to see which ones were the most popular undergraduate certificate programs for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our analysis found San Jacinto Community College to be the most popular school for trade school students who want to pursue a undergraduate certificate in the Southwest Region . Pasadena, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out undergraduate certificates to 1,885 students in 2021-2022.
By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $9,340 in student loans. Around 50% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that San Jacinto College does offer online classes in some areas. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 66% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
You’ll be in good company if you attend Texas State Technical College. The school came in at #2 on this year’s Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region list. Texas State Technical College is a fairly large public school located in Waco, Texas that handed out 896 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $10,227 in student loans. Around 10% of those degree recipients were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at TSTC. In fact, around 94% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
The excellent undergraduate certificate programs at Indian Capital Technology Center, Muskogee helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular trade school schools in the Southwest Region . Located in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the small public school handed out 1,159 undergraduate certificate awards in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 40% were women.
The excellent undergraduate certificate programs at The College of Health Care Professions - Northwest helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular trade school schools in the Southwest Region . CHCP - Northwest is a private for-profit institution located in Houston, Texas. The school has a small population, and it awarded 989 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
Undergraduate Certificate recipients from CHCP - Northwest accumulate an average of $8,745 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 95% were women.
One thing to take note of is that CHCP - Northwest does offer online classes in some areas. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 73% took at least some of their classes online.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Tulsa Technology Center. It ranked #5 on our 2023 Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region list. Tulsa Tech is a small public school situated in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It awarded 1,209 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
Around 39% of those degree recipients were women.

United Education Institute - UEI College - Phoenix landed the #8 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular undergraduate certificate trade school programs. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, the small private for-profit school handed out 739 undergraduate certificate awards in 2021-2022.
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $8,825 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 82% of those degree recipients were women.

With a ranking of #9, Lone Star College System did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. Located in The Woodlands, Texas, the large public school awarded 1,029 diplomas to qualifed undergraduate certificate students in 2021-2022.
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $8,493 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 53% were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at North Harris Montgomery. In fact, around 67% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
Florida Career College - Houston Campus landed the #10 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular undergraduate certificate trade school programs. Florida Career College - Houston Campus is a small private for-profit school located in Houston, Texas that handed out 614 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
Undergraduate Certificate recipients from Florida Career College - Houston Campus accumulate an average of $9,249 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 77% of those degree recipients were women.
With a ranking of #11, Universal Technical Institute - Phoenix did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. UTI Phoenix is located in Avondale, Arizona and has a very small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 457 undergraduate certificates to qualified students.
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $14,543 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 6% of those degree recipients were women.
Northeast Technology Center-System Office ranked #12 on this year’s Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region list. Northeast Technology Center-System Office is a small public school situated in Pryor, Oklahoma. It awarded 701 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 48% were women.
South Texas College ranked #13 on this year’s Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region list. South Texas College is a large public school situated in McAllen, Texas. It awarded 483 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
Around 41% of those degree recipients were women.

Galen College of Nursing - San Antonio came in at #14 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Galen College of Nursing - San Antonio is a small private for-profit school situated in San Antonio, Texas. It awarded 407 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $14,483 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 85% were women.
Since Galen College of Nursing - San Antonio is primarily an online school, it is an excellent choice for undergraduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.
Sonoran Desert Institute landed the #15 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular undergraduate certificate trade school programs. This small private for-profit school is located in Tempe, Arizona, and it awarded 544 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
If you want to attend Sonoran Desert Institute, expect to pay an average of $11,960 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid. Undergraduate Certificate recipients from Sonoran Desert Institute accumulate an average of $8,149 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 2% were women.
Sonoran Desert Institute is primarily an online school, so it is a great choice for returning adults and students who work full time.
With a ranking of #16, El Paso Community College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. El Paso Community College is a large public school situated in El Paso, Texas. It awarded 412 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at El Paso Community College is $3,274. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $5,314. Of those students who received their degree, 56% were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at El Paso Community College. In fact, around 59% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
With a ranking of #17, The College of Health Care Professions - Southwest Houston did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. This very small private for-profit school is located in Houston, Texas, and it awarded 385 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $8,745 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 93% were women.

Canadian Valley Technology Center landed the #18 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular undergraduate certificate trade school programs. This small public school is located in El Reno, Oklahoma, and it awarded 566 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 48% were women.
Houston Community College came in at #19 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Located in Houston, Texas, the large public school awarded 480 diplomas to qualifed undergraduate certificate students in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Houston Community College is $4,344. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $5,460. On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $13,835 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 64% were women.
Online courses are available at Houston Community College, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. During the 2020-2021 year, about 77% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
South Texas Vocational Technical Institute-San Antonio came in at #20 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. This very small private for-profit school is located in San Antonio, Texas, and it awarded 415 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $12,106 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 7% of those degree recipients were women.

Altierus Career College - Bissonnet is a private not-for-profit institution located in Houston, Texas. The school has a very small population, and it awarded 470 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $8,407 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 55% were women.
With a ranking of #22, PCI Health Training Center did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. Located in Dallas, Texas, the very small private for-profit school handed out 287 undergraduate certificate awards in 2021-2022.
Undergraduate Certificate recipients from PCI Health Training Center accumulate an average of $6,717 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 95% were women.
The College of Health Care Professions - Fort Worth did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an undergraduate certificate. It came in at #23 on the list. Located in Fort Worth, Texas, the very small private for-profit school awarded 433 diplomas to qualifed undergraduate certificate students in 2021-2022.
Undergraduate Certificate recipients from CHCP - Fort Worth accumulate an average of $8,745 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 93% were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since CHCP - Fort Worth does offer online classes for certain majors. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 14% took at least some of their classes online.
North Central Texas College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an undergraduate certificate. It came in at #24 on the list. Located in Gainesville, Texas, the medium-sized public school awarded 498 diplomas to qualifed undergraduate certificate students in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Texas pay an average of $4,680 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend NCTC. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $7,200. By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $9,660 in student loans. Around 32% of those degree recipients were women.
NCTC does offer online classes for certain degree levels. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 67% took at least some of their classes online.
Kiamichi Technology Center-McAlester did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an undergraduate certificate. It came in at #25 on the list. Located in McAlester, Oklahoma, the very small public school handed out 691 undergraduate certificate awards in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 48% were women.
Online courses are available at KTC McAlester, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. In fact, around 1% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
