Our analysis looked at 179 schools in Florida to see which basic certificate programs were the most popular for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named South Florida Institute of Technology the most popular school in Florida for trade school students working on their basic certificate. This small private for-profit school is located in Miami, Florida, and it awarded 1,033 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 31% were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at South Florida Institute of Technology. In fact, around 9% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
Out of the 179 schools in Florida that were part of this year’s ranking, Valencia College landed the # 2 spot on the list. Valencia College is a large public school located in Orlando, Florida that handed out 7,875 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Students from Florida who attend Valencia College full time pay an average of $2,474 in tuition and fees. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $9,383. Around 53% of those degree recipients were women.
Online courses are available at Valencia College, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. During the 2020-2021 year, about 84% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Tulsa Welding School-Jacksonville. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Florida list. TWS is a private for-profit institution located in Jacksonville, Florida. The school has a very small population, and it awarded 757 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Around 10% of those degree recipients were women.
Out of the 179 schools in Florida that were part of this year’s ranking, Broward College landed the # 4 spot on the list. BC is a public institution located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The school has a large population, and it awarded 6,366 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Florida pay an average of $2,830 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend BC. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $8,952. Around 53% of those degree recipients were women.

A rank of #5 on this year’s list means Palm Beach State College is a great place for trade school students working on their basic certificate. This large public school is located in Lake Worth, Florida, and it awarded 942 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Students from Florida who attend Palm Beach State College full time pay an average of $3,050 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students pay an average of $10,910. Of those students who received their degree, 60% were women.
Online courses are available at Palm Beach State College, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 77% took at least some of their classes online.
Florida State College at Jacksonville did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #6 on the list. Located in Jacksonville, Florida, the large public school awarded 2,456 diplomas to qualifed basic certificate students in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $2,657 in tuition and fees if they attend FSCJ full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $9,631. Of those students who received their degree, 56% were women.
One thing to take note of is that FSCJ does offer online classes in some areas. In 2020-2021 about 78% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Seminole State College of Florida ranked #7 on this year’s Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Florida list. Located in Sanford, Florida, the fairly large public school awarded 2,457 diplomas to qualifed basic certificate students in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Florida pay an average of $3,131 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Seminole State. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $11,456. Of those students who received their degree, 52% were women.
Online courses are available at Seminole State, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. During the 2020-2021 year, about 73% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Hillsborough Community College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #8 on the list. HCC is located in Tampa, Florida and has a fairly large student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 3,010 basic certificates to qualified students.
In-state students pay an average of $2,506 in tuition and fees if they attend HCC full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $9,111. Around 60% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that HCC does offer online classes in some areas. During the 2020-2021 year, about 78% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Indian River State College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #9 on the list. Indian River State College is located in Fort Pierce, Florida and has a fairly large student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 1,034 basic certificates to qualified students.
Students from Florida who attend Indian River State College full time pay an average of $2,764 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $10,201. Around 47% of those degree recipients were women.

With a ranking of #10, Praxis Institute did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. Praxis Institute is a private for-profit institution located in Miami, Florida. The school has a very small population, and it awarded 414 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Around 55% of those degree recipients were women.
With a ranking of #11, Miami Dade College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. Located in Miami, Florida, the large public school awarded 4,180 diplomas to qualifed basic certificate students in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Florida pay an average of $2,838 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend MDC. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $9,661. Of those students who received their degree, 54% were women.
One thing to take note of is that MDC does offer online classes in some areas. In 2020-2021 about 82% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Sheridan Technical College landed the #12 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate trade school programs. Sheridan Technical College is a small public school situated in Hollywood, Florida. It awarded 569 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 66% were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at Sheridan Technical College. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 27% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
L3 Commercial Training Solutions Airline Academy ranked #13 on this year’s Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Florida list. L3 Commercial Training Solutions Airline Academy is a very small private for-profit school situated in Sanford, Florida. It awarded 141 basic certificates in 2021-2022.

Rasmussen University - Florida came in at #14 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Florida ranking. Ocala, Florida is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out basic certificates to 625 students in 2021-2022.
If you want to attend Rasmussen University - Florida, expect to pay an average of $13,842 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid. Of those students who received their degree, 92% were women.

La Belle Beauty Academy did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #16 on the list. Miami, Florida is the setting for this very small institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out basic certificates to 253 students in 2021-2022.
Around 99% of those degree recipients were women.
Celebrity School of Beauty landed the #16 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate trade school programs. Celebrity School of Beauty is a very small private for-profit school located in Miami, Florida that handed out 405 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 98% were women.
Eastern Florida State College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #18 on the list. EFSC is a fairly large public school situated in Melbourne, Florida. It awarded 1,446 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Florida pay an average of $2,791 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend EFSC. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $10,976. Around 60% of those degree recipients were women.
EFSC does offer online classes for certain degree levels. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 66% took at least some of their classes online.

Hollywood Institute of Beauty Careers came in at #24 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Florida ranking. This very small private for-profit school is located in Hollywood, Florida, and it awarded 264 basic certificates in 2021-2022.

With a ranking of #25, Concorde Career Institute - Tampa did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. Located in Tampa, Florida, the very small private for-profit school handed out 228 basic certificate awards in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 93% were women.
Since Concorde Career Institute - Tampa is primarily an online school, it is an excellent choice for undergraduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.
