Our 2023 rankings named Southern Maine Community College the most popular school in Maine for trade school students working on their associate degree. South Portland, Maine is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associate degrees to 721 students in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Maine pay an average of $3,797 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend SMCC. Out-of-state students pay an average of $6,677. Associate Degree recipients from SMCC accumulate an average of $12,655 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 55% of those degree recipients were women.
SMCC does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 71% took at least some of their classes online.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Kennebec Valley Community College is a great place for trade school students working on their associate degree. Located in Fairfield, Maine, the small public school handed out 238 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
Students from Maine who attend Kennebec Valley Community College full time pay an average of $3,687 in tuition and fees. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $6,567. Associate Degree recipients from Kennebec Valley Community College accumulate an average of $15,786 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 71% of those degree recipients were women.

The excellent associate degree programs at Eastern Maine Community College helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular trade school schools in Maine. This small public school is located in Bangor, Maine, and it awarded 281 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $3,877 in tuition and fees if they attend Eastern Maine Community College full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $6,757. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $16,692 in student loans. Around 62% of those degree recipients were women.
Eastern Maine Community College does offer online classes for certain degree levels. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 66% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
A rank of #4 on this year’s list means Central Maine Community College is a great place for trade school students working on their associate degree. Auburn, Maine is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associate degrees to 316 students in 2021-2022.

Northern Maine Community College landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. This very small public school is located in Presque Isle, Maine, and it awarded 92 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Students from Maine who attend Northern Maine Community College full time pay an average of $3,730 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $6,610. On average, associate degree students take out $12,571 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 54% were women.

University of Maine at Augusta ranked #8 on this year’s Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in Maine list. Located in Augusta, Maine, the small public school handed out 94 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at UMA is $8,378. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $19,778. On average, associate degree students take out $19,960 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 76% were women.
One thing to take note of is that UMA does offer online classes in some areas. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 79% took at least some of their classes online.
Maine College of Health Professions ranked #9 on this year’s Most Popular Associate Degree Trade Schools in Maine list. Lewiston, Maine is the setting for this very small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out associate degrees to 66 students in 2021-2022.
If you want to attend MCHP, expect to pay an average of $16,238 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid. Associate Degree recipients from MCHP accumulate an average of $14,354 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 92% were women.
Interested in an online degree? Then you definitely want to check out MCHP. Every undergraduate student at the school took at least one class online.
Washington County Community College landed the #10 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. This very small public school is located in Calais, Maine, and it awarded 31 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Washington County Community College is $3,687. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $6,567. Around 65% of those degree recipients were women.

Students from Maine who attend Maine Maritime full time pay an average of $14,562 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students pay an average of $30,043.

In-state students pay an average of $8,542 in tuition and fees if they attend UMFK full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $13,312. Around 20% of those degree recipients were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online classes at UMFK. During the 2020-2021 year, about 63% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
