Our analysis found Boise State University to be the best school for trade school students who want to pursue a basic certificate in Idaho. Boise State University is a large public school located in Boise, Idaho that handed out 629 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $8,364 in tuition and fees if they attend Boise State full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $25,701.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Boise State does offer online classes for certain majors. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 63% took at least some of their classes online.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Idaho State University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Best Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Idaho list. This fairly large public school is located in Pocatello, Idaho, and it awarded 140 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Students from Idaho who attend ISU full time pay an average of $7,958 in tuition and fees. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $25,936.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online classes at ISU. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 54% took at least some of their classes online.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around you if you attend College of Southern Idaho. The school came in at #4 on this year’s Best Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Idaho list. Located in Twin Falls, Idaho, the medium-sized public school awarded 280 diplomas to qualifed basic certificate students in 2021-2022.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since College of Southern Idaho does offer online classes for certain majors. In 2020-2021 about 39% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around you if you attend College of Western Idaho. The school came in at #5 on this year’s Best Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Idaho list. This medium-sized public school is located in Nampa, Idaho, and it awarded 228 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Some students may be able to take online classes at CWI. In fact, around 47% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
With a ranking of #6, North Idaho College did quite well on this year’s best schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out basic certificates to 83 students in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $4,960 in tuition and fees if they attend NIC full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $8,736.
NIC does offer online classes for certain degree levels. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 72% took at least some of their classes online.
