Our analysis looked at 45 schools in the New England Region to see which basic certificate programs offered the best educational experiences for trade school students.

Our analysis found Bunker Hill Community College to be the best school for trade school students who want to pursue a basic certificate in the New England Region . BHCC is a medium-sized public school situated in Boston, Massachusetts. It awarded 204 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Massachusetts pay an average of $5,280 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend BHCC. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $10,224.

Out of the 45 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Wentworth Institute of Technology landed the # 3 spot on the list. Tunxis Community College is a small public school located in Farmington, Connecticut that handed out 155 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Connecticut pay an average of $4,820 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Tunxis Community College. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $14,220.

Gateway Community College landed the #15 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best basic certificate trade school programs. Gateway Community College is located in New Haven, Connecticut and has a medium-sized student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 118 basic certificates to qualified students.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Gateway Community College is $4,740. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $14,140.

Community College of Rhode Island landed the #21 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best basic certificate trade school programs. This fairly large public school is located in Warwick, Rhode Island, and it awarded 144 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at CCRI is $5,090. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $13,552.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online classes at CCRI. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 63% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
Cape Cod Community College ranked #22 on this year’s Best Basic Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region list. West Barnstable, Massachusetts is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out basic certificates to 139 students in 2021-2022.
Students from Massachusetts who attend Cape Cod Community College full time pay an average of $5,592 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $10,536.
Some students may be able to take online classes at Cape Cod Community College. In fact, around 53% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
With a ranking of #23, Assumption University did quite well on this year’s best schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. Located in Worcester, Massachusetts, the small private not-for-profit school handed out 1 basic certificate awards in 2021-2022.
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $47,508 to cover tuition and fees at Assumption. The school does not offer an in-state discount.
Assumption does offer online classes for certain degree levels. During the 2020-2021 year, about 2% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Sacred Heart University ranked #24 on this year’s Best Basic Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Sacred Heart is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Fairfield, Connecticut. It awarded 24 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Sacred Heart does not offer a discount to in-state students, so the average tuition and fees for all undergraduates is $46,580. This amount may be reduced if you receive financial aid.
