This report analyzed 47 schools in New York to see which ones offered the best associate degree programs for trade school students.

Our analysis found Excelsior University to be the best school for trade school students who want to pursue a associate degree in New York. Located in Albany, New York, the fairly large private not-for-profit school awarded 1,240 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2021-2022.
On average, associate degree students take out $12,110 in loans while pursuing their degree.
Excelsior University is one of the schools on our list that is primarily online. Each undergraduate student at the school took at least one class online.
Out of the 47 schools in New York that were part of this year’s ranking, Molloy College landed the # 2 spot on the list. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Rockville Centre, New York, and it awarded 22 associate degrees in 2021-2022.

In-state students pay an average of $6,330 in tuition and fees if they attend Nassau Community College full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $12,130. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $11,890 in student loans.
Nassau Community College does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. During the 2020-2021 year, about 85% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.

Hostos Community College is a small public school located in Bronx, New York that handed out 921 associate degrees in 2021-2022.

The average tuition and fees at Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology is $27,730. Students from New York who attend DCC full time pay an average of $5,174 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students pay an average of $9,774. Associate Degree recipients from DCC accumulate an average of $11,428 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.

LaGuardia Community College landed the #16 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best associate degree trade school programs. Long Island City, New York is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associate degrees to 2,562 students in 2021-2022.
