Our 2023 rankings named Porter and Chester Institute of Stratford the most popular school in the New England Region for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. This small private for-profit school is located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and it awarded 967 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
The average tuition and fees at Porter and Chester Institute is $15,856. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid. By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $12,458 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 45% were women.

Vermont Technical College came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Located in Randolph, Vermont, the small public school handed out 161 undergraduate certificate awards in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $15,546 in tuition and fees if they attend Vermont Tech full time. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $29,502. Undergraduate Certificate recipients from Vermont Tech accumulate an average of $8,896 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 81% were women.
One thing to take note of is that Vermont Tech does offer online classes in some areas. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 41% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
With a ranking of #11, Porter and Chester Institute of Hamden did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their undergraduate certificate. Porter and Chester Institute of Hamden is located in Hamden, Connecticut and has a very small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 160 undergraduate certificates to qualified students.
The average tuition and fees at Porter and Chester Institute of Hamden is $14,870. Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics ranked #13 on this year’s Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Woburn, Massachusetts is the setting for this very small institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out undergraduate certificates to 107 students in 2021-2022.

Full-time students from Maine pay an average of $3,877 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Eastern Maine Community College. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $6,757. On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $10,665 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 47% of those degree recipients were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online classes at Eastern Maine Community College. In 2020-2021 about 66% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Northern Essex Community College ranked #16 on this year’s Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region list. This small public school is located in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and it awarded 87 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $5,688 in tuition and fees if they attend NECC full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $11,472. Quinsigamond Community College ranked #21 on this year’s Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region list. This medium-sized public school is located in Worcester, Massachusetts, and it awarded 130 undergraduate certificates in 2021-2022.
