This report analyzed 23 schools in Idaho to see which ones were the most popular basic certificate programs for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named College of Western Idaho the most popular school in Idaho for trade school students working on their basic certificate. CWI is located in Nampa, Idaho and has a medium-sized student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 228 basic certificates to qualified students.
Around 20% of those degree recipients were women.
CWI does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 47% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Oliver Finley Academy of Cosmetology is a great place for trade school students working on their basic certificate. This very small private for-profit school is located in Boise, Idaho, and it awarded 152 basic certificates in 2021-2022.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend College of Southern Idaho. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Idaho list. Located in Twin Falls, Idaho, the medium-sized public school handed out 280 basic certificate awards in 2021-2022.
Around 66% of those degree recipients were women.
Online courses are available at College of Southern Idaho, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 39% took at least some of their classes online.
You’ll be in good company if you attend Paul Mitchell the School Boise. The school came in at #4 on this year’s Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Idaho list. Paul Mitchell the School Boise is located in Boise, Idaho and has a very small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 76 basic certificates to qualified students.
Of those students who received their degree, 99% were women.
The excellent basic certificate programs at Milan Institute-Nampa helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular trade school schools in Idaho. Idaho State University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #8 on the list. ISU is a fairly large public school situated in Pocatello, Idaho. It awarded 140 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Idaho pay an average of $7,958 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend ISU. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $25,936. Around 66% of those degree recipients were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at ISU. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 54% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
With a ranking of #9, Rexburg College of Massage Therapy did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. College of Massage Therapy came in at #14 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Idaho ranking. College of Massage Therapy is a very small private for-profit school located in Blackfoot, Idaho that handed out 18 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Around 89% of those degree recipients were women.
With a ranking of #15, Boise State University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. Boise State is a public institution located in Boise, Idaho. The school has a large population, and it awarded 629 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Boise State is $8,364. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $25,701. Around 66% of those degree recipients were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at Boise State. During the 2020-2021 year, about 63% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Cosmetology School of Arts and Science LLC came in at #16 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Idaho ranking. Burley, Idaho is the setting for this very small institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out basic certificates to 14 students in 2021-2022.

Elevate Salon Institute - Chubbuck ranked #19 on this year’s Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Idaho list. Elevate Salon Institute - Chubbuck is a very small private for-profit school located in Chubbuck, Idaho that handed out 31 basic certificates in 2021-2022.

Lewis - Clark State College landed the #20 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate trade school programs. Located in Lewiston, Idaho, the small public school awarded 44 diplomas to qualifed basic certificate students in 2021-2022.

Paul Mitchell the School Twin Falls came in at #21 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in Idaho ranking. This very small private for-profit school is located in TWIN FALLS, Idaho, and it awarded 1 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Headmasters School of Hair Design did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #21 on the list. Located in Lewiston, Idaho, the very small private for-profit school handed out 10 basic certificate awards in 2021-2022.
