Spa Tech Institute-Westboro ranked #11 on this year’s Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region list. This very small private for-profit school is located in Westborough, Massachusetts, and it awarded 170 basic certificates in 2021-2022.

Kennebec Valley Community College ranked #12 on this year’s Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region list. This small public school is located in Fairfield, Maine, and it awarded 117 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Kennebec Valley Community College is $3,687. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $6,567. Of those students who received their degree, 71% were women.
Kennebec Valley Community College does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 52% took at least some of their classes online.
With a ranking of #13, Northeast Technical Institute did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. Northeast Technical Institute is a very small private for-profit school located in Scarborough, Maine that handed out 208 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 53% were women.
With a ranking of #14, Capilo School of Hair Design did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. This very small private for-profit school is located in Augusta, Maine, and it awarded 110 basic certificates in 2021-2022.

Community College of Rhode Island came in at #15 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Community College of Rhode Island is a fairly large public school located in Warwick, Rhode Island that handed out 144 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at CCRI is $5,090. Out-of-state students pay an average of $13,552. Of those students who received their degree, 63% were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since CCRI does offer online classes for certain majors. In fact, around 63% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
Middlesex Community College ranked #16 on this year’s Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Middlesex Community College is a medium-sized public school situated in Bedford, Massachusetts. It awarded 165 basic certificates in 2021-2022.

Quinsigamond Community College landed the #20 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate trade school programs. Students from New Hampshire who attend MCC full time pay an average of $7,090 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $15,340. Around 45% of those degree recipients were women.
MCC does offer online classes for certain degree levels. During the 2020-2021 year, about 60% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
With a ranking of #25, Massachusetts Bay Community College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. MassBay Community College is a small public school situated in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts. It awarded 131 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Students from Massachusetts who attend MassBay Community College full time pay an average of $5,376 in tuition and fees. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $10,320. Of those students who received their degree, 68% were women.
