To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named New England Tractor Trailer Training School of CT-Bridgeport the most popular school in the New England Region for trade school students working on their basic certificate. Located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the very small private for-profit school awarded 668 diplomas to qualifed basic certificate students in 2021-2022.
Around 11% of those degree recipients were women.

This very small private for-profit school is located in Boston, Massachusetts, and it awarded 320 basic certificates in 2021-2022.

Bunker Hill Community College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #8 on the list. Bunker Hill Community College is a medium-sized public school located in Boston, Massachusetts that handed out 204 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Massachusetts pay an average of $5,280 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend BHCC. Out-of-state students pay an average of $10,224. Of those students who received their degree, 68% were women.
One thing to take note of is that BHCC does offer online classes in some areas. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 96% took at least some of their classes online.
Spa Tech Institute-Plymouth ranked #9 on this year’s Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Located in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the very small private for-profit school handed out 198 basic certificate awards in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 95% were women.
Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics landed the #10 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate trade school programs. Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics is a very small private for-profit school situated in Woburn, Massachusetts. It awarded 114 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 98% were women.
Spa Tech Institute-Westboro did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #11 on the list. Spa Tech Institute-Westboro is a very small private for-profit school located in Westborough, Massachusetts that handed out 170 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 97% were women.
Kennebec Valley Community College came in at #12 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Fairfield, Maine is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out basic certificates to 117 students in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Maine pay an average of $3,687 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Kennebec Valley Community College. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $6,567. Around 71% of those degree recipients were women.
Kennebec Valley Community College does offer online classes for certain degree levels. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 52% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
Northeast Technical Institute ranked #13 on this year’s Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Located in Scarborough, Maine, the very small private for-profit school awarded 208 diplomas to qualifed basic certificate students in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 53% were women.
Capilo School of Hair Design landed the #14 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate trade school programs. Capilo School of Hair Design is located in Augusta, Maine and has a very small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 110 basic certificates to qualified students.
Around 86% of those degree recipients were women.
With a ranking of #15, Community College of Rhode Island did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. This fairly large public school is located in Warwick, Rhode Island, and it awarded 144 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Rhode Island pay an average of $5,090 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend CCRI. Out-of-state students pay an average of $13,552. Around 63% of those degree recipients were women.
CCRI does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. In fact, around 63% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
Middlesex Community College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #16 on the list. Bedford, Massachusetts is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out basic certificates to 165 students in 2021-2022.
Students from Massachusetts who attend Middlesex Community College full time pay an average of $6,098 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $12,170. Around 70% of those degree recipients were women.
Middlesex Community College does offer online classes for certain degree levels. In fact, around 65% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
With a ranking of #16, Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. This very small private not-for-profit school is located in Boston, Massachusetts, and it awarded 203 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $17,550 to cover tuition and fees at BFIT. The school does not offer an in-state discount. Around 10% of those degree recipients were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online classes at BFIT. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 96% took at least some of their classes online.
Springfield Technical Community College landed the #18 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate trade school programs. Springfield, Massachusetts is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out basic certificates to 126 students in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Massachusetts pay an average of $5,520 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend STCC. Out-of-state students pay an average of $10,728. Around 56% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that STCC does offer online classes in some areas. In fact, around 91% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
Paul Mitchell the School North Haven came in at #19 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. This very small private for-profit school is located in North Haven, Connecticut, and it awarded 125 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 98% were women.
With a ranking of #20, Quinsigamond Community College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their basic certificate. Quinsigamond Community College is located in Worcester, Massachusetts and has a medium-sized student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 259 basic certificates to qualified students.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Quinsigamond Community College is $5,830. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $10,774. Around 57% of those degree recipients were women.
Quinsigamond Community College does offer online classes for certain degree levels. In fact, around 41% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
Academy Di Capelli - School of Cosmetology landed the #20 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate trade school programs. Academy Di Capelli is a private for-profit institution located in Wallingford, Connecticut. The school has a very small population, and it awarded 77 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
Around 100% of those degree recipients were women.
Bristol Community College landed the #23 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate trade school programs. Located in Fall River, Massachusetts, the medium-sized public school handed out 151 basic certificate awards in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $5,280 in tuition and fees if they attend Bristol full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $10,224. Of those students who received their degree, 74% were women.
Online courses are available at Bristol, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. In 2020-2021 about 98% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Manchester Community College landed the #24 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate trade school programs. Located in Manchester, New Hampshire, the small public school awarded 110 diplomas to qualifed basic certificate students in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at MCC is $7,090. Out-of-state students pay an average of $15,340. Of those students who received their degree, 45% were women.
One thing to take note of is that MCC does offer online classes in some areas. In fact, around 60% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
Massachusetts Bay Community College came in at #25 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Basic Certificate Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Massachusetts Bay Community College is a small public school located in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts that handed out 131 basic certificates in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at MassBay Community College is $5,376. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $10,320. Around 68% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that MassBay Community College does offer online classes in some areas. In 2020-2021 about 97% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
