Our 2023 rankings named Central New Mexico Community College the most popular school in New Mexico for trade school students working on their associate degree. This fairly large public school is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and it awarded 3,426 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at CNM is $1,858. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $7,978. On average, associate degree students take out $9,753 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 64% were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since CNM does offer online classes for certain majors. In 2020-2021 about 74% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means San Juan College is a great place for trade school students working on their associate degree. SJC is a public institution located in Farmington, New Mexico. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 595 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from New Mexico pay an average of $1,714 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend SJC. Out-of-state students pay an average of $4,882. Associate Degree recipients from SJC accumulate an average of $13,626 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 69% of those degree recipients were women.

Out of the 25 schools in New Mexico that were part of this year’s ranking, New Mexico State University - Dona Ana landed the # 3 spot on the list. Located in Las Cruces, New Mexico, the medium-sized public school handed out 908 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
Students from New Mexico who attend NMSU Dona Ana full time pay an average of $2,238 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $5,880. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $13,537 in student loans. Around 64% of those degree recipients were women.

The excellent associate degree programs at Pima Medical Institute - Albuquerque helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular trade school schools in New Mexico. Pima Medical Institute - Albuquerque is a very small private for-profit school located in Albuquerque, New Mexico that handed out 117 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Around 75% of those degree recipients were women.

Santa Fe Community College landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. This small public school is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and it awarded 251 associate degrees in 2021-2022.

Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute landed the #15 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. This very small public school is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and it awarded 45 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Around 67% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that SIPI does offer online classes in some areas. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 99% took at least some of their classes online.
With a ranking of #16, Navajo Technical University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. Navajo Tech is a public institution located in Crownpoint, New Mexico. The school has a small population, and it awarded 49 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
