To help you arm yourself with the information you need to make your decision, Trade College Search has developed this Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. This report analyzed 45 schools in the Southwest Region to see which ones had the most popular online associate degree programs for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from schools with online programs.

Our 2023 rankings named Sonoran Desert Institute the most popular school in the Southwest Region for trade school students working on their associate degree. Sonoran Desert Institute is a small private for-profit school situated in Tempe, Arizona. It awarded 816 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $11,960 to cover tuition and fees at Sonoran Desert Institute. The school does not offer an in-state discount. On average, associate degree students take out $15,168 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 2% of those degree recipients were women.
Interested in an online degree? Then you definitely want to check out Sonoran Desert Institute. Every undergraduate student at the school took at least one class online.
Out of the 45 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Pima Medical Institute - Tucson landed the # 2 spot on the list. Tucson, Arizona is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out associate degrees to 567 students in 2021-2022.
On average, associate degree students take out $23,034 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 86% of those degree recipients were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 55% took at least some of their classes online.
You’ll be in good company if you attend Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service. The school came in at #3 on this year’s Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Southwest Region list. Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service is a private not-for-profit institution located in Houston, Texas. The school has a very small population, and it awarded 146 associate degrees in 2021-2022.

It ranked #4 on our 2023 Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Southwest Region list. This small private for-profit school is located in Houston, Texas, and it awarded 308 associate degrees in 2021-2022.

Full-time students from Oklahoma pay an average of $3,779 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend OSU-OKC. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $9,564. Bryan University came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Tempe, Arizona is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out associate degrees to 330 students in 2021-2022.
If you want to attend Bryan University, expect to pay an average of $12,184 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $19,820 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 68% were women.
Bryan University is primarily an online school, so it is a great choice for returning adults and students who work full time.
Central Texas College came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Located in Killeen, Texas, the medium-sized public school awarded 1,518 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2021-2022.
On average, associate degree students take out $9,895 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 60% of those degree recipients were women.
In 2020-2021 about 71% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
With a ranking of #9, Community Care College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. This very small private not-for-profit school is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and it awarded 72 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
On average, associate degree students take out $17,258 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 96% were women.
To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 79% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
Carrington College, Phoenix North ranked #11 on this year’s Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Southwest Region list. Carrington College, Phoenix North is a small private for-profit school located in Phoenix, Arizona that handed out 229 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
On average, associate degree students take out $26,560 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 83% were women.
In 2020-2021 about 37% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
San Juan College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an associate degree. It came in at #12 on the list. SJC is located in Farmington, New Mexico and has a medium-sized student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 595 associate degrees to qualified students.
Students from New Mexico who attend SJC full time pay an average of $1,714 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $4,882. Brookline College - Phoenix came in at #13 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Brookline College - Phoenix is a very small private for-profit school situated in Phoenix, Arizona. It awarded 100 associate degrees in 2021-2022.

University of Phoenix - Arizona landed the #15 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. Phoenix, Arizona is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out associate degrees to 3,066 students in 2021-2022.
On average, associate degree students take out $21,782 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 66% of those degree recipients were women.
During the 2020-2021 year, about 100% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Oklahoma City Community College ranked #16 on this year’s Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Southwest Region list. Oklahoma City Community College is a fairly large public school located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma that handed out 1,746 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at OCCC is $4,059. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $9,810. Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology ranked #17 on this year’s Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Southwest Region list. Located in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the small public school handed out 567 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at OSU Institute of Technology is $5,774. Out-of-state students pay an average of $11,384. Associate Degree recipients from OSU Institute of Technology accumulate an average of $12,809 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Central New Mexico Community College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an associate degree. It came in at #19 on the list. CNM is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has a fairly large student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 3,426 associate degrees to qualified students.
In-state students pay an average of $1,858 in tuition and fees if they attend CNM full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $7,978. Associate Degree recipients from CNM accumulate an average of $9,753 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 64% were women.
In 2020-2021 about 74% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Pima Community College came in at #20 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Pima County Community College District is a public institution located in Tucson, Arizona. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 1,807 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $2,298 in tuition and fees if they attend Pima County Community College District full time. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $7,614. On average, associate degree students take out $10,213 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 62% were women.

Rio Salado College landed the #20 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. Located in Tempe, Arizona, the fairly large public school handed out 699 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
