As online education opportunities continue to grow, you're not restricted to just schools in your local area anymore. Even some of the 'big name' schools are offering online courses.
To help you arm yourself with the information you need to make your decision, Trade College Search has developed this Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Our analysis looked at 11 schools in the New England Region to see which online associate degree programs were the most popular for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from schools with online programs.

Our 2023 rankings named Southern New Hampshire University the most popular school in the New England Region for trade school students working on their associate degree. SNHU is a private not-for-profit institution located in Manchester, New Hampshire. The school has a large population, and it awarded 3,321 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
SNHU does not offer a discount to in-state students, so the average tuition and fees for all undergraduates is $15,380. This amount may be reduced if you receive financial aid. Associate Degree recipients from SNHU accumulate an average of $17,725 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 60% were women.
To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 96% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
You’ll be in good company if you attend Kennebec Valley Community College. The school came in at #2 on this year’s Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Kennebec Valley Community College is located in Fairfield, Maine and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 238 associate degrees to qualified students.
Students from Maine who attend Kennebec Valley Community College full time pay an average of $3,687 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $6,567. On average, associate degree students take out $15,786 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 71% were women.
During the 2020-2021 year, about 52% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Out of the 11 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, NHTI-Concord’s Community College landed the # 3 spot on the list. Located in Concord, New Hampshire, the small public school handed out 519 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at NHTI is $7,200. Out-of-state students pay an average of $15,450. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $16,658 in student loans. Around 66% of those degree recipients were women.
To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 54% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
You’ll be in good company if you attend FINE Mortuary College. The school came in at #4 on this year’s Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. FINE Mortuary College is a very small private for-profit school situated in Norwood, Massachusetts. It awarded 29 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average tuition and fees at FINE Mortuary College is $20,945. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid. Associate Degree recipients from FINE Mortuary College accumulate an average of $28,722 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 69% of those degree recipients were women.
The excellent associate degree programs at Fisher College helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular trade school schools in the New England Region . Boston, Massachusetts is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out associate degrees to 41 students in 2021-2022.
If you want to attend Fisher College, expect to pay an average of $34,150 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $16,058 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 100% were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 57% took at least some of their classes online.
With a ranking of #6, Vermont Technical College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. This small public school is located in Randolph, Vermont, and it awarded 275 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Vermont Tech is $15,546. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $29,502. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $15,886 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 68% were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 41% took at least some of their classes online.
University of Maine at Augusta landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. UMA is a small public school situated in Augusta, Maine. It awarded 94 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Maine pay an average of $8,378 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend UMA. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $19,778. Associate Degree recipients from UMA accumulate an average of $19,960 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 76% were women.
In 2020-2021 about 79% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Saint Joseph’s College of Maine came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Located in Standish, Maine, the small private not-for-profit school awarded 3 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 100% were women.
Around 31% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
With a ranking of #8, Cambridge College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. Cambridge College is a small private not-for-profit school located in Boston, Massachusetts that handed out 26 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Around 96% of those degree recipients were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 66% took at least some of their classes online.
Washington County Community College came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Located in Calais, Maine, the very small public school awarded 31 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2021-2022.
Students from Maine who attend Washington County Community College full time pay an average of $3,687 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students pay an average of $6,567. Of those students who received their degree, 65% were women.
Around 55% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
Johnson & Wales University - Online came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, the small private not-for-profit school handed out 8 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
Around 75% of those degree recipients were women.
