As online education opportunities continue to grow, you're not restricted to just schools in your local area anymore. Even some of the 'big name' schools are offering online courses.
To help you arm yourself with the information you need to make your decision, Trade College Search has developed this Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Our analysis looked at 11 schools in the New England Region to see which online associate degree programs were the most popular for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from schools with online programs.

Our analysis found Southern New Hampshire University to be the most popular school for trade school students who want to pursue a associate degree in the New England Region . This large private not-for-profit school is located in Manchester, New Hampshire, and it awarded 3,321 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
If you want to attend SNHU, expect to pay an average of $15,380 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid. Associate Degree recipients from SNHU accumulate an average of $17,725 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 60% of those degree recipients were women.
In 2020-2021 about 96% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Kennebec Valley Community College is a great place for trade school students working on their associate degree. Located in Fairfield, Maine, the small public school awarded 238 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $3,687 in tuition and fees if they attend Kennebec Valley Community College full time. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $6,567. On average, associate degree students take out $15,786 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 71% of those degree recipients were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 52% took at least some of their classes online.
You’ll be in good company if you attend NHTI-Concord’s Community College. The school came in at #3 on this year’s Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Located in Concord, New Hampshire, the small public school awarded 519 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at NHTI is $7,200. Out-of-state students pay an average of $15,450. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $16,658 in student loans. Around 66% of those degree recipients were women.
To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 54% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2020-2021.
The excellent associate degree programs at FINE Mortuary College helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular trade school schools in the New England Region . Norwood, Massachusetts is the setting for this very small institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out associate degrees to 29 students in 2021-2022.
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $20,945 to cover tuition and fees at FINE Mortuary College. The school does not offer an in-state discount. Associate Degree recipients from FINE Mortuary College accumulate an average of $28,722 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 69% of those degree recipients were women.
A rank of #5 on this year’s list means Fisher College is a great place for trade school students working on their associate degree. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Boston, Massachusetts, and it awarded 41 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Fisher College does not offer a discount to in-state students, so the average tuition and fees for all undergraduates is $34,150. This amount may be reduced if you receive financial aid. On average, associate degree students take out $16,058 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 100% of those degree recipients were women.
In 2020-2021 about 57% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Vermont Technical College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an associate degree. It came in at #6 on the list. Vermont Tech is a small public school situated in Randolph, Vermont. It awarded 275 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Vermont Tech is $15,546. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $29,502. Associate Degree recipients from Vermont Tech accumulate an average of $15,886 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 68% of those degree recipients were women.
Around 41% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
University of Maine at Augusta landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree trade school programs. Located in Augusta, Maine, the small public school handed out 94 associate degree awards in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at UMA is $8,378. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $19,778. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $19,960 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 76% were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 79% took at least some of their classes online.
Saint Joseph’s College of Maine did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an associate degree. It came in at #8 on the list. Saint Joseph’s Maine is located in Standish, Maine and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 3 associate degrees to qualified students.
Of those students who received their degree, 100% were women.
Around 31% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
Cambridge College came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Boston, Massachusetts, and it awarded 26 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 96% were women.
During the 2020-2021 year, about 66% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
With a ranking of #10, Washington County Community College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. Calais, Maine is the setting for this very small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associate degrees to 31 students in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $3,687 in tuition and fees if they attend Washington County Community College full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $6,567. Around 65% of those degree recipients were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 55% took at least some of their classes online.
Johnson & Wales University - Online came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Providence, Rhode Island, and it awarded 8 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Of those students who received their degree, 75% were women.
Since JWU Online is primarily an online school, it is an excellent choice for undergraduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.
