Our analysis looked at 11 schools in the New England Region to see which online associate degree programs were the most popular for trade school students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from schools with online programs.

Our analysis found Southern New Hampshire University to be the most popular school for trade school students who want to pursue a associate degree in the New England Region . Located in Manchester, New Hampshire, the large private not-for-profit school awarded 3,321 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2021-2022.
The average tuition and fees at SNHU is $15,380. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid. On average, associate degree students take out $17,725 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 60% were women.
During the 2020-2021 year, about 96% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Kennebec Valley Community College is a great place for trade school students working on their associate degree. This small public school is located in Fairfield, Maine, and it awarded 238 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Maine pay an average of $3,687 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Kennebec Valley Community College. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $6,567. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $15,786 in student loans. Of those students who received their degree, 71% were women.
In 2020-2021 about 52% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
The excellent associate degree programs at NHTI-Concord’s Community College helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular trade school schools in the New England Region . NHTI is a small public school situated in Concord, New Hampshire. It awarded 519 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at NHTI is $7,200. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $15,450. Associate Degree recipients from NHTI accumulate an average of $16,658 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 66% of those degree recipients were women.
Around 54% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2020-2021.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend FINE Mortuary College. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Located in Norwood, Massachusetts, the very small private for-profit school awarded 29 diplomas to qualifed associate degree students in 2021-2022.
The average tuition and fees at FINE Mortuary College is $20,945. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid. On average, associate degree students take out $28,722 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 69% of those degree recipients were women.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Fisher College. It ranked #5 on our 2023 Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Boston, Massachusetts is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out associate degrees to 41 students in 2021-2022.
Fisher College does not offer a discount to in-state students, so the average tuition and fees for all undergraduates is $34,150. This amount may be reduced if you receive financial aid. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $16,058 in student loans. Around 100% of those degree recipients were women.

Vermont Technical College came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region ranking. Randolph, Vermont is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associate degrees to 275 students in 2021-2022.
In-state students pay an average of $15,546 in tuition and fees if they attend Vermont Tech full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $29,502. On average, associate degree students take out $15,886 in loans while pursuing their degree. Around 68% of those degree recipients were women.
In 2020-2021 about 41% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
University of Maine at Augusta did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an associate degree. It came in at #7 on the list. UMA is located in Augusta, Maine and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 94 associate degrees to qualified students.
In-state students pay an average of $8,378 in tuition and fees if they attend UMA full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $19,778. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $19,960 in student loans. Around 76% of those degree recipients were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 79% took at least some of their classes online.
Saint Joseph’s College of Maine ranked #8 on this year’s Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Saint Joseph’s Maine is located in Standish, Maine and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 3 associate degrees to qualified students.
Around 100% of those degree recipients were women.
Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2020-2021 academic year, around 31% took at least some of their classes online.
Cambridge College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for trade school students to get an associate degree. It came in at #8 on the list. Cambridge College is located in Boston, Massachusetts and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 26 associate degrees to qualified students.
Of those students who received their degree, 96% were women.
In 2020-2021 about 66% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Washington County Community College ranked #10 on this year’s Most Popular Online Associate Degree Trade Schools in the New England Region list. Washington County Community College is a very small public school situated in Calais, Maine. It awarded 31 associate degrees in 2021-2022.
Full-time students from Maine pay an average of $3,687 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Washington County Community College. Out-of-state students pay an average of $6,567. Around 65% of those degree recipients were women.
During the 2020-2021 year, about 55% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
With a ranking of #10, Johnson & Wales University - Online did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for trade school students working on their associate degree. JWU Online is located in Providence, Rhode Island and has a small student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 8 associate degrees to qualified students.
Of those students who received their degree, 75% were women.
If you are interested in distance education, JWU Online is an excellent choice, since the school is online.
