This report analyzed 14 schools in Utah to see which ones offered the best value programs for trade school students. The goal was to highlight schools with more affordable prices than others offering similar quality experiences.
Our ranking of value is based on the quality of a program as defined in our per sticker price dollar. Specifically, our score for quality is discounted by the published tuition and fees charged by the given college. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The more quality your dollar buys, the better the value.
In our regional and nationwide rankings, out-of-state tution and fees are used in our calculations. For statewide rankings, we use average in-state tuition and fees.

Our analysis found Salt Lake Community College to be the best value school for trade school students in Utah. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, the large public school awarded 5,181 diplomas to qualifed students in 2021-2022.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at Salt Lake Community College are $13,701 per year.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Western Governors University is a great place for trade school students who want to get the most value for their educational dollar. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, the large private not-for-profit school handed out 43,908 degrees in 2021-2022.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate students at WGU are $8,010 a year.

The excellent programs at Snow College helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the best value trade schools in Utah. Snow College is a medium-sized public school located in Ephraim, Utah that handed out 1,316 degrees in 2021-2022.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at Snow College are $14,130 per year.
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around you if you attend Weber State University. The school came in at #5 on this year’s Best Value Trade School Schools in Utah list. WSU is a large public school situated in Ogden, Utah. It awarded 6,620 degrees in 2021-2022.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate students at WSU are $17,084 a year.

Brigham Young University - Provo did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value places for trade school students. It came in at #6 on the list. BYU is located in Provo, Utah and has a large student population. In 2021-2022, this school awarded 7,920 degrees to qualified students.
BYU undergraduate students pay an average of $6,304 in tuition and fees each year.
University of Utah ranked #7 on this year’s Best Value Trade School Schools in Utah list. University of Utah is a large public school located in Salt Lake City, Utah that handed out 9,223 degrees in 2021-2022.
U of U undergraduate students pay an average of $29,837 in tuition and fees each year.

Dixie State University came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Trade School Schools in Utah ranking. Located in Saint George, Utah, the fairly large public school handed out 3,216 degrees in 2021-2022.

Southern Utah University came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Trade School Schools in Utah ranking. Located in Cedar City, Utah, the fairly large public school handed out 4,473 degrees in 2021-2022.

Eagle Gate College - Murray did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value places for trade school students. It came in at #11 on the list. Located in Murray, Utah, the very small private for-profit school awarded 104 diplomas to qualifed students in 2021-2022.
Eagle Gate College - Murray undergraduate students pay an average of $17,112 in tuition and fees each year.

Broadview University - West Jordan came in at #13 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Trade School Schools in Utah ranking.
